An Oktoberfest Spin-Off

One of the best perks about living in the midwest is that we get to experience all of the seasons in their glory. There are always different things to celebrate throughout the year – the winter’s first snow and joyous holidays, spring’s celebration of new life and blooming greenery, summer’s energetic and carefree way of living, and finally autumn’s beautiful foliage and cozy sweaters. Autumn not only brings us beautiful scenery and comfortable clothes, but also football, pumpkin spice lattes, and Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest is a fun fall tradition that we are totally onboard with.

So, what is the connection between Oktoberfest and Wedtoberfest anyway? Besides festive, gleeful beer consumption, these two events have something else in common- weddings! The history of Oktoberfest goes like this: the setting was 19th century Bavaria, and Prince Ludwig was married to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Citizens of Munich were invited to celebrate the royal nuptials by gathering and rejoicing on the fields in front of the city gates. There was horse races and choirs and a lot of beer drinking. The next year the festival grew and grew. It has since turned into a 16-day festival that begins in late September and goes until the first week in October.

We think this is a fun tradition that we can all relate to (especially we wedding industry folk!). What better festivity is there than one that celebrates marriage through outdoor beer consumption?

By hosting Wedtoberfest, our goal is to celebrate all marriages and help couples choose the perfect bubbly libations and vendors for their big day. So join us September 17th at Studio Manarchy. To stay in the loop for when tickets go on sale, please make sure you also join our mailing list.
