What has been your favorite event from this past year?
We do so many great events – weddings, anniversaries & birthday parties, corporate and non-profit functions, and other social functions that it’s really hard to choose just one. While I love executing all of our menus, we get the creativity to drive the menu for one of our own events.
In February, when we were all really bored from slow season and antsy from being stuck inside we presented a FIG Presents ticketed event called Cabin Fever Dream Dinner. The menu was hearty including pan roasted oysters, braised red cabbage, and, my personal favorite, bananas foster. The surroundings were warm & comfortable, and the staff was fresh & excited. By the end of the season we tend to burn out, but in February we’re eager to work again! [Photos (including blog feature photo) by Crimson Cat Studios]
Please tell us about a recent piece of work that you are really proud of!
This was our second year in a row managing the VIP area at the annual Green City Market Chef BBQ. Green City is close to our heart because it was one of the first Chicago markets we shopped at and we still work with many of the farms there every week. The Chef BBQ is their premier event and even though in the past we’ve participated as volunteers, attendees, and chef participants, we have been doubly overjoyed to participate in the VIP area where we help Green City’s top donors enjoy their experience even more. Even though we don’t produce a lot of food at this event, which is unusual for FIG, our staff really shines because it’s a mission that’s close to our heart. [Photos by Tess Graham, Edible Chicago]
If you had to come up with a name of a beer for your company, what would it be?
Wild FIG-mentation – a wild yeast fermented Belgian style Lambic with FIGs of course!

What would you want an engaged couple looking to hire you to know about your services?
We throw around the term “full service” a lot without clients really understanding what that is. Although FIG does not provide full planning, décor, or entertainment, our Event Managers are really there to make sure your whole wedding goes seamlessly (not just the food) so we feel more like we’re a partner with your other vendors in creating a great night. Basically, there is a lot more to wedding catering than just food and we know how to do it.
