Partners
Wedtoberfest has some truly amazing partners that help us run this event. Check them out below!
The mission of People for Community Recovery is to enhance the quality of life of Chicagoland residents living in communities affected by environmental pollution. They advocate, educate, and organize on community-identified priorities including environmental and climate justice, safe and affordable housing, economic equity and community health.
PCR’s founder, Hazel Johnson, is widely considered the mother of the environmental justice movement. Hazel understood, not just of the connection between environmental pollution and human health, but also of the ways in which environmental issues connect deeply with race, class and gender.
Through decades of work, People for Community Recovery has stopped toxic landfills opening in our communities, advocated for residents to be connected to clean drinking water, educated and trained the Chicago Housing Authority on environmental toxins and advancements, lead the way in environmental cleanups of underserved communities, and continues to create, negotiate and pass legislation that fights environmental racism and injustice.
Wedtoberfest is proud to donate our ticket sales to PCR, raising thousands of dollars towards their initiatives!
